A Leader in Veterinary Waste Management

Serving veterinary practices across the country, our expertise in hazardous and non hazardous waste management equips us to provide low cost, reliable, compliance-driven and complex free medical waste pickup services

When the term ‘medical waste’ or biohazardous sharps is used, the first thing that comes to mind is human patient-care, however many of the same wastes generated in a healthcare setting are also byproducts of animal care. At MCF we have been partnering with animal hospitals and veterinary practices for more than 30 years and are equipped to both collect, transport and treat all hazardous and non hazardous waste generated within veterinary practices.

Infectious wastes, pathological wastes, radioactive wastes (a pellet byproduct of brachytherapy), pharmaceutical waste, biohazardous sharps, RCRA hazardous waste and even sometimes chemotherapeutic drugs, are all waste streams that are typically generated in some volume from veterinary practices that conduct diagnostic services or surgical procedures on animals. As partners, we posture ourselves as the experts to minimize safety risks, ensure your facility is equipped with the right waste bins and segregation methods, your staff are trained to state and federal regulations in waste handling, and your waste collection services are structured in a way that minimizes costs and makes sense to the waste volumes you are generating.

What is classified as “Medical Waste”

As a medical profession, veterinarians are held to the same scientifically based regulations that benefit public health which, in the case of medical waste, is the 1988 federal Medical Waste Tracking Act. In a typical clinical veterinary medical practice, several byproducts of animal care are considered regulated veterinary medical waste; discarded needles, syringes, and other sharps; vaccines and vials that contained certain live or attenuated vaccines; cultures and stocks of infectious agents and culture plates; research animals that were exposed to agents that are infectious to human beings and their associated waste; and other animal waste that is known to be potentially harmful to human beings.

Cradle to Grave Waste Responsibility

Licensed in the handling all of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, we minimize your risk

Generators retain liability for all medical and hazardous waste throughout the entire disposal process (i.e in packaging, transport and final treatment); this makes finding a reliable and capable waste management partner a really important decision. It is essential to ensure that waste transporters and disposal facilities comply with state and federal requirements, and at MCF we own every facet of your waste handling process - our trucks, our disposal and treatment facilities, and our expert team providing documents of destruction and manifests required as proof of record for waste processing. A single provider minimizes your risk as a waste generator, and at MCF our whole team take very seriously our responsibility in managing our customers’ compliance.
