Waste Management
Expertise in Nevada

MCF Environmental Services have been serving medical clinics, laboratories, education institutions and local businesses for more than 30 years, offering specialist waste collection and disposal services for hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.

Nevada’s Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) is the governing agency regarding the handling storage, and disposal of hazardous medical or industrial waste in the state. Searching for all rules and regulations for waste management processes can be confusing and time-consuming, but is essential for the protection of healthcare workers, the general public, and the environment.

Any generator of waste should know the difference between regulated and non-regulated waste. The same applies to infectious, hazardous, and pharmaceutical waste streams. Specific rules and regulations are found within Nevada’s Revised Statutes 459.400-459.600 (Hazardous Waste). This category establishes programs for the ‘regulation of the storage, generation, transportation, treatment and disposal of hazardous waste’ and ensures safe procedures and processes for doing so.

Know the rules regarding the definition of hazardous waste in the state (NRS 459.430). Details are important for compliance. Turn to a knowledgeable and experienced hazardous medical and industrial waste company to help wade through regulations and rules that protect not only the public and the environment, but your business.

Know the rules

Other rules are also applicable in the state, including those of the Nevada Regulatory Authority found in NAC 444.842 through 444.976 (Hazardous Waste and Asbestos). These rules apply to facilities in the management of hazardous waste.

It can be difficult to keep up with changing rules and proposed regulation changes, but doing so is vital for any hazardous waste generator regardless of size or business. For example, in Nevada, the Generator Improvements Rule (81 FR 85732) has done away with the ‘conditionally exempt small quantity generator’ and now refers to them as a ‘very small quantity generator’. What does that mean for you? It means added focus on strengthening environmental protection and the reorganization of hazardous waste generator regulations, among others.

In Nevada, medical waste generators must use a medical waste transportation company that has been approved and permitted by the state’s Health Authority. Know the laws to reduce the risk of fines, penalties, and damage to reputation for improper hazardous or infectious waste management, from the moment it’s generated to its final disposal.

MCF Environmental Services can help you navigate current rules and regulations to ensure compliance. We focus on safety and compliance for hazardous and biomedical waste management and customize our services to meet your needs in Nevada.
