However, you need to know about Title 11, Chapter 140 regarding application for permits and renewals for generators, transporters, and hazardous waste facilities found under 567-140.3(455B). A portion of the rule states “any private or public person or agency who generates or transports hazardous waste or who owns or operates a facility that treats, stores or disposes of hazardous waste shall notify the department stating the hazardous waste handled by the person in the location and a description of the activity involving the waste.’

Does your facility, hospital, or business do that? Notification is achieved by filing a completed federal EPA form 8700-12.

Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources enforces the states hazardous waste management program, which follows the regulations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
